Five visual directions from the Gate-1 teardowns — real frames from the reference bank, my read under each. Pick ONE (or name a blend, e.g. “D1 light + D3 campaigns”). The wedge is locked (published spec + real warranty); the direction decides how that honesty LOOKS. The India shelf sits at the bottom for contrast — that's what we must not resemble.
Warm-neutral studio, skin-forward macro, linen and stone surfaces. Spec-as-copy lives natively here — the annotation diagram IS the aesthetic. Self-purchase permission ('you deserve it') as the emotional register.
For us: Closest fit to W1: the spec-published wedge reads as craft, not lab-report. Risk: closest to what Chandvi already looks like — warm and quiet. If you want the two brands unmistakably different, this narrows the gap.
Cooler light, layering-first styling (necklace stacks, ear stacks), street-adjacent energy, services-as-content (piercing, welding, engraving). The jewellery is a HABIT, not an occasion.
For us: Best match to the ₹999–1,500 entry + bundle mechanics — stacking IS the bundle, styled instead of discounted. Retail-services content grammar is unclaimed in India. Risk: register skews young; trade-up band needs care.
Fashion-film campaign energy — moodier, sun-and-shadow, sculptural crops, the model is a character not a mannequin. Collection drops as 'editions'.
For us: The most differentiated register vs everything on the India shelf — nobody here looks like this. Pairs well with an owned-motif franchise (W2 is built into W1). Risk: PDPAOLA itself has been flat two years; the look didn't fix their mechanics — we'd take the look, not the playbook.
Industrial codes: steel shown AS steel, hardware forms, dark grounds, androgynous casting. The material is the brand — 'we don't plate over the truth.'
For us: The most literal expression of W1 — the spec IS the aesthetic, and men's chains are quietly real in Palmonas' own bestsellers (unclaimed lane in India). Risk: narrowest mainstream appeal for the gifting/women's core; strongest as a men's/unisex LINE inside a warmer brand rather than the whole world.
Flat colour fields, graphic composition, product as object-on-colour. Clean, cheap to produce at volume, very 'DTC'.
For us: Fastest content velocity of the five — colour-block plates are the easiest to generate consistently at volume. Risk: it's the register of discount-dependent brands (Ana Luisa lives on perpetual sales); can read down-market unless the type system carries the premium.
